Back from the dead

Greetings! This is the place where you can find out everything happening with the SportsRock Internet Radio Show. Here you'll find postings about our show, about our guests, and including some expanded commentary on topics we're talking about.

SportsRock will air every weeknight from 10PM-midnight on the east coast, which is 7-9PM on the west coast, beginning on Monday May 18. We will be airing on the Sports Journey Broadcast Network, and we're excited to bring you a hard-hitting sports talk show with interviews and analysis on all your favorite sports and teams.

SportsRock is a name that has a special meaning for me. This will be the third evolution of the SportsRock brand. In 1990, I hosted a Saturday morning radio show at Ramapo College called 'SportsRock Saturday' for WRPR-FM. It allowed me a four vehicle to play music and talk sports, leading into the radio station's coverage of Ramapo football. At the time, they played Division III in the New Jersey Athletic Conference; they've long since eliminated the program from the school. In 1991, I moved it the show to the Sunday night time slot.

Then, after a few years hiatus, the show resurfaced at WRPR as a morning-drive show that aired five days a week. We did some great shows, but the show ceased operations in 1996.

Now, 13 years later, I've been asked to provide another sports show on a weeknight basis, and I'm proud to revive the SportsRock name. Yes, I know there are other restaurants around the country named SportsRock. Yes Philadelphia sports fans, I know that Howard Eskine unsuccessfully stole my show name and tried to make it work on WIP in 1992. But I first created the name in 1989 as a production intern at WFAN in New York, and I'm confident that this time around for me, it'll definitely be a case of the 'third time being the charm.'

So we'll be officially launching on Monday night May 18. In the coming days, I'll be providing more details, including who will be working the show with me, and the identities of the first few guests for the show. Let the journey begin...
